RE-BORN IN THE USA!
The Painted Lady storefront in Downtown Plymouth has been operating for about nine
years offering home decor and collectible type products. Though many of our products were
made in the USA, many were not. After repeatedly seeing reports about how bad the economy
is as well as how bad the un-employment rate is, we decided it was time to "GO USA"
and "GO GREEN." We hear the statistics everyday..........
Well, the numbers say.....Each manufacturing job in the USA creates 5-8 additional jobs, such as suppliers, accountants, technical support, distributors and retail personnel who sell the products. So, if each American spent just $64.00 more a year on American made products, we could create 200, 000 new jobs!
So The Painted Lady decided to offer some great new products made right here in the good ole USA! Take a look at Richard Abbott's decorative tiles made in Maine! How about beautiful one-of-a-kind handbags and accessories from the state of Washington or soaps by Summerhouse Soap of Cape Cod - just a stone's throw from The Painted Lady?
This year more than 25 billion single use plastic water bottles will be sold in the United States alone and 80% of those will be disposed of rather than recycled! Over 1.5 million barrels of oil were used to make the plastic bottles consumed in the U.S. last year. Amazing numbers when you think about it! But the good thing is that there are companies right here in the U.S. who are on the case! Mary Meyers uses plastic bottles in their "Fuzz That Wuzz" line. About 10 plastic water bottlesin every cute little fuzzy wuzzy animal! And we have them - just check out our website page and make sure to order your favorite!
- Here's a few more little tidbits to satisfy your curiosity on how long it takes for other materials to degrade:

- How about a "Welcome" mat that is good for the environment? We have them! And they're pretty, too!
When you decide it's time for a change - check out the mats that can be composted when you tire of one design and decide to buy another! Flowers and birds in wonderful, vibrant colors!
DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE'S A COMPANY THAT COLLECTS USED CRAYONS WHICH THEY RECYCLE INTO MULTI-COLORED NEW CRAZY CRAYON SHAPES? WE'LL BE STARTING A COLLECTION CAMPAIGN SHORTLY IN AMERICA'S HOMETOWN OF PLYMOUTH, MA, TO ASK CHILDREN TO BRING IN THEIR USED CRAYONS SO THAT WE CAN SEND THEM ALONG TO CRAZY CRAYONS ™.
Why would we consider doing something like this? Well because................... More than 12 million crayons are made in the U.S. EVERY DAY! 100 new crayons equal about 1 pound. That's approximately 60 tons of crayons made EVERY DAY with petroleum-based wax that eventually ends up in our landfills when they don't have to and shouldn't!
